2016-2018
Wood-fired Ceramics, Embroidery

Picnic is an activity that brings people together, while bringing Home outside the nature by sharing food and conversations.

I reactivate this briefcase by using it again, as a container which records and produce history.

This briefcase was founded in a  thrift store in Hong Kong, By studying the utensils inside, I believe it was brough from UK to Hong Kong, By bringing this briefcase to Chicago, it carries stories of an immigrant and its culture to a new environment.

I mold casted these objects and wood-fired them, casting the nature on these objects by firing them with local woods. During wood-firing process, local wood would turn into wood ash, then stick on the pottery and turn into natural glaze due to the high temperature. It creates marks that symbolize the location.
